JEAN HAILES
RELAYING A FIRST NATION LIVED EXPERIENCE FOR JEAN HAILES WOMEN’S HEALTH WEEK 2025
As part of Women’s Health Week 2025, which is Australia’s largest event dedicated to the health and wellbeing of women, girls, and gender-diverse people – Jean Hailes partnered with Ethnolink to produce a powerful First Nations lived experience video.
The theme, “Say Yes to You”, centred on encouraging women to prioritise their health. Day 2 of the campaign, Take the Lead, featured the story of Natasha Smith, a proud Wiradjuri, Wemba Wemba and Barapa Barapa woman, who shared her deeply personal health journey.
To capture Natasha's story authentically, we worked closely with a one-on-one consultation format that created a safe and supportive space for her to reflect on her health journey. From this, I crafted a script that wove together her lived experience of carrying the BRCA2 gene, her breast cancer diagnosis, and the personal transformation that followed.
The script was designed to remain true to Natasha’s voice while aligning with campaign objectives and inspiring women to take proactive health steps.
Punchy Digital Media and Ethnolink then brought the story to life through cinematic filming and still photography, ensuring the final video was empowering, authentic, and visually compelling, while also optimised for use across multiple platforms
